PONDEROSA

Deep Roots. Smarter Decisions.

Built for Dynamics 365 Business Central

Financial reports in minutes,
not hours.

Ponderosa Analytics connects directly to Business Central and turns your GL into department-level P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow — with automatic tie-out validation built in. Reconciliations, month-end close, dashboards, and business valuation live in one place — and between closes, Ponderosa keeps watching your numbers, so surprises surface early, not at month-end.

A short walkthrough on your own data — no commitment, no sales pitch.

Why we built this

Built because the right tool didn't exist.

Like most finance teams running Dynamics 365 Business Central, we relied on the same Excel-based reporting tools everyone else used. We knew the workflows. We'd built the templates. But every month-end close brought the same frustrations: hours waiting on reports, formulas that broke each quarter, and a system only a handful of people in the office knew how to maintain.

We went looking for a better option. We evaluated every competing product on the market. None of them solved what we needed: department-level financial statements pulled directly from Business Central — fast, consistent, and maintainable by anyone on the team, not just the one person who built the templates.

So we built Ponderosa Analytics ourselves. It's not a VC pitch or a consulting firm's side project. It's a tool built by a finance team that hit the same wall you have — with the engineering depth to build it right — instead of waiting for someone else to.

Meet Ponder

Ask your financials a question — in plain English

Ponder is the built-in assistant. Ask about your numbers the way you'd ask a colleague, and get an answer drawn straight from your real reports — scoped to exactly what you're allowed to see.

  • Answers from your real numbers

Ponder reads your actual P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow, project margins, budget, and forecast — and only states figures it retrieved. It never invents or estimates a number.

  • Sees only what you're allowed to

Every answer is scoped to the person asking. A department manager gets their department's numbers — never the whole company. The same permissions that govern your reports govern Ponder.

  • Draws the chart when it helps

Ask about a trend or a comparison and Ponder builds the chart inline, with a short plain-language takeaway — no export, no pivoting a spreadsheet.

Ponder runs on AWS Bedrock with guardrails — it can't write code, browse the web, or read your configuration, and your financials aren't used to train any model.

The platform

Everything your Finance team needs

Reports in minutes

Full company-wide P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow with department columns — generated directly from your Business Central GL in minutes, not the hours legacy tools take.

Balance-sheet reconciliations

Close your books with confidence. Every balance-sheet account is reconciled each period — the GL balance and roll-forward are computed straight from your data, you add support and explain any variance, with preparer/reviewer sign-off, materiality thresholds, and drift detection built in.

Month-end close management

Run the whole close in one place — not just reconciliations. Track every close task with owners, due dates, dependencies, and sub-items, across separate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes. A live dashboard and close calendar show exactly what's done and what's blocking.

Business valuation & FP&A

Forecast the business over any horizon and estimate what it's worth — DCF, capitalization of earnings, and market comparables combined into one weighted conclusion. Every line shows its formula, so an outside appraiser or board can check the math.

Ask Ponder — built-in AI

Ask your financials a question in plain English and get an answer from your real reports — permission-scoped, with charts drawn inline. See Meet Ponder.

Executive dashboard

A live view for leadership — revenue, net income, and margin trends, department and top-expense breakdowns, and budget vs. actual, all at a glance. The numbers your executives ask for, without building a deck.

Project & job reporting

For project-based businesses, see profitability by job — recognized revenue and cost pulled straight from Business Central, right alongside your department reporting. Built for construction and field-services teams.

Audit trail

A complete, timestamped record of who did what — logins, mapping changes, permission updates, and report runs. A clean paper trail for auditors and internal controls, without asking anyone to keep a log.

Direct BC connection

Connects to any Dynamics 365 Business Central environment via Microsoft's standard API. No Excel, no exports, no manual data entry.

Department columns

Your BC dimension codes map to named department columns. Add a department in BC, map it once — it appears across every report immediately.

Automatic tie-out checks

Every report run includes built-in validation. If your Balance Sheet doesn't balance or Cash Flow doesn't reconcile, Ponderosa Analytics flags it before you share anything.

Simple account mapping

Map account ranges with a simple range syntax (e.g., 4000..4999). One mapping drives every report, every period — no per-template formulas.

Anyone can manage it

No formulas, no code, no Excel expertise needed. Map your accounts once with a plain range syntax and anyone on your Finance team can run, update, and maintain reports from day one.

Cut your reporting license bill

The managers, executives, and outside accountants who just need to see the numbers get them from Ponderosa — and can drill into the underlying transactions — without a Business Central, Jet, or BI license each. That's per-seat licensing you're paying for today that you can cut.

Multiple report layouts

Create named layouts for different audiences — Internal, Bank, Auditor. Same account mapping, different presentation. Change a format once, it updates everywhere.

Role-based access

Admin, Finance User, and Read-Only roles. Department managers see only their columns — not company-wide data. Per-user report type restrictions built in.

Budget vs. actual

Enter department budgets by fiscal month and compare to actuals in the same report view. Export to Excel with one click.

Multi-company consolidation

Combine several Business Central companies into one consolidated P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow — with intercompany eliminations so the group never double-counts.

Rolling forecasts

Project the rest of the year from actuals using run-rate, prior-year, seasonal, or driver-based methods — e.g. labor as a percent of revenue. No spreadsheets.

Automatic sync

Scheduled sync pulls GL entries from BC on your cadence. Reports always reflect current data — no manual refresh required.

Excel export & scheduled delivery

Export any report to Excel or PDF for deeper analysis — or schedule it to run automatically on your cadence and email it to stakeholders or drop it in a shared SharePoint or Google Drive folder. Set it once; it arrives on time, every period.

Always watching

Your books get watched, not just reported

Between closes, Ponderosa keeps an eye on your GL. When something drifts, the right people hear about it — in the app and by email — instead of finding it at month-end.

  • Continuous checks

Stale syncs, sharp revenue swings, and statements that stop tying out are evaluated automatically, around the clock — the drift you'd otherwise catch by accident.

  • In the app and in your inbox

A live notification feed in Ponderosa, plus email to the people you choose. Each alert carries a severity, and a built-in quiet period keeps the same issue from spamming you.

  • You set the thresholds

Decide what "a sharp drop" means and how stale is too stale. Turn each alert on or off per company — so finance hears what matters and nothing it doesn't.

Give everyone their numbers — without a seat in BC, Jet, or BI for each of them

The people who just need to see the reports get them straight from Ponderosa — and can drill into the underlying transactions — without a Business Central, Jet, or BI license each. That's per-seat licensing you can stop paying for.

Getting started

From Business Central to your first report, without the usual wait

We walk every new team through the connection step-by-step. After that, anyone runs reports independently. Most environments are quick to set up; more complex systems get hands-on, guided onboarding.

1

Connect to Business Central

Enter your BC tenant ID, client ID, and environment name, then test the connection.

2

Run the initial sync

Ponderosa Analytics pulls your full chart of accounts and GL history from BC. No data re-entry. Your history comes with you.

3

Map your accounts

Enter your account ranges once (e.g., Contract Revenue = 4000..4999). That mapping applies to every report automatically.

4

Run your first report

Select a date range, click Run Report — your department-level P&L, Balance Sheet, or Cash Flow is ready in minutes.

Your data, protected

Built for finance teams who can't take chances with their GL

You're trusting us with your general ledger. Here's exactly how we keep it safe.

Encrypted credentials & tokens

Your Business Central connection secrets and access tokens are secured with enterprise-grade encryption at rest. They're never stored in plain text and never exposed in the app.

Role-based access control

Admin, Finance User, and Read-Only roles. Department managers see only their columns — not company-wide data. Per-user report-type restrictions are built in.

Isolated per company

Every company's chart of accounts, GL entries, and report definitions are fully isolated. One company's data is never visible to another.

Read-only BC connection

Ponderosa Analytics only reads from Business Central — it pulls your GL and chart of accounts. It never writes back to or modifies your ERP.

Microsoft-standard auth

Connections use Microsoft's standard OAuth via Azure app registration — the same authentication model Microsoft uses for Business Central itself.

Full audit trail

Every meaningful action is logged with a timestamp — logins, mapping changes, permission updates, and report runs — so you have a clean record for auditors and internal controls.

Built to SOC 2 principles

Enterprise controls throughout — a hardened web edge (web application firewall), least-privilege access, encrypted secrets, and full audit logging. We're building toward SOC 2 because your GL deserves that bar.

Your data stays yours

Cancel anytime and we'll export your mappings and remove your data on request. No lock-in, no hostage situations.

FAQ

Common questions

If you don't see your question here, ask us in the demo request below.

Where does my financial data live, and is it secure?

Your BC connection credentials and tokens are secured with enterprise-grade encryption at rest, access is role-based, and each company's data is fully isolated. Ponderosa Analytics reads from Business Central over Microsoft's standard OAuth — it never writes back to your ERP. See the Security section for details.

Is my financial data used to train AI?

No. Ponder, the built-in assistant, runs on Amazon Bedrock with guardrails — your financials are never used to train any model. Ponder only answers from data the person asking is already permitted to see, and it can't write code, browse the internet, or access your configuration or credentials. Ask it about your reports; it stays inside your data.

Will it tell me when something looks wrong?

Yes. Ponderosa watches your data between closes and raises an alert when a sync goes stale, revenue drops more sharply than your threshold, or a financial statement stops tying out — in the app's notification feed and by email to the people you choose. You decide which alerts are on and how sensitive they are, per company. See Monitoring for details.

Which versions of Business Central are supported?

Any Dynamics 365 Business Central environment reachable through Microsoft's standard API — cloud (SaaS) and supported on-prem deployments with API access. We confirm compatibility with your environment during the demo.

Do I need IT or a developer to set this up?

No. We walk you through the BC connection step-by-step, and account mapping uses a plain range syntax anyone on your Finance team can manage — no formulas, no code, no BI modeling.

How is this different from per-user reporting tools?

With per-user tools, everyone who needs to see a report needs their own paid seat. With Ponderosa, the managers, executives, and outside accountants who just consume reports get their numbers — and can drill into the transactions — straight from Ponderosa, without a Business Central, Jet, or BI license each. So you can cut the per-seat licenses you pay for today. (Our own pricing is still being finalized — we'll walk through it in the demo.)

How much does it cost?

Final pricing and packaging are still being finalized — we'll walk through the details with you in the demo. One thing we can say now: because report consumers get their numbers from Ponderosa, you can cut the Business Central, Jet, or BI per-seat licenses you pay for today.

What happens to my data if I cancel?

It's yours. Cancel anytime; we'll export your account and dimension mappings and remove your data on request. No lock-in.

Can I keep my existing report formats?

Yes. You define named layouts (Internal, Bank, Auditor, etc.) over a single account mapping, so you can match the formats your stakeholders already expect — and change a format once to update it everywhere.

How long until I'm running real reports?

Most teams are running their first department-level statement soon after connecting Business Central — we guide you through setup, and simpler environments go faster than more complex ones.
